I see our friendly wizard has been busy again removing things. If people wish to have an fall out on the forum not sure why others can't give an opinion if they wish? The bits I read didn't seem particularly problematic or was it because it was someone who hadn't posted much before commenting?

Some things were going a bit far but to remove a personal insult against me (which I was enjoying) seems unfair. Can I have it back please?

You can hardly expect poor Mark to go through the b****y thread and analyse *every* individual post can you?: the poor bloke deserves some sort of life doesn't he? Enough work getting rid of all the damned spammers...

I think you can if you are going to delete things, I also believe mark has a commercial interest. So yes you can!

Some Cheruby chaps were getting nasty with each other. Less than Cherubic language was being used. Seems an innocent desire for my death by GRF was caught up in it....shame!

I'd say it was fair enough removing just the posts from the argueing guys, but some of the posts were actually quite interesting :(

Guys, FWIW Mark has had enough, which is fair enough.
This has nothing to do with Cherubs or real Cherub people, in fact any disagreement is so far off 'Planet Cherub' it's in another space-time continuam. And FWIW I would have preferred it finalised, in private, as offered, despite no response.
Anyway Mark has a responsibility to ensure the majority of this forum have a safe and happy experience, as for my own issue, lubricated by the provocative end of banter regarding my own muppet skills, well I hope it's now over and the protagonists understand 'isolated examples' as much as I now do - especially with weird and wonderful out of class contraptions that are wholly 'theoretical' and 'unproven'.
Peace out sailor boys, happy sailing and buy a Solo...

Yes, I'd had enough, no, it was nothing to do with Graeme.
If an issue gets to the point where I have to spend 2 hours dealing with the various complaints then it's time for it to stop. I work long enough hours already and all this does is impact on what I can develop for the site. Yes, I deleted every post after a certain point and no I am not a wizard, I just run a website.
As Jimbo has said, it's over now. Peace out!

You were up early Mark.
I, for one, want to thank you for carrying out the difficult task of moderating this forum. I realise that it's a fine line between the acceptable and the unacceptable and not everyone will agree with the decisions that have to be made from time to time. For me you get the balance right. Even with the levels of moderation applied here some people have been driven away from here by the forum bullies who certainly prevent me from posting more often than not. OK, I accept that I am over 21 and can take it but frankly, in my busy life, I just don't need it. It really is a shame when people who have a lot to contribute DON'T do so because of some of the activities on the forums (strange, isn't it, that most of these cyber bullies that I have met in the real world are pleasant and charming people who I am more than happy to have a beer or three with).
Thank you for not letting this forum go the way of SA's uncontrolled, crude and profanity laden forum across the Pond

Absolutely agree ! Mark fwiw I think most of us agree with your moderation methods, the whole rogue skiff thread had gotten out of hand and some troll had been trying to start an argument.

First moderation I've had to do this year (apart from spam of course).

I agree with Rodney - and thanks for putting it so nicely. From my lone, lame female perspective this forum has actually improved vastly - it still has smatterings of homophobia, and is hugely sexist at times, but actually, it could be a whole lot worse. Mark keeps a fine line between letting us have our say and letting arguments develop in an interesting way - the design thread is a great example of this. Good job Mark, and thanks.

Is it more homophobic or sexist than real life? One has to bear in mind that most members are male and (in line with the general population hetrosexual), I seldom notice anything untoward. I like it on here because most discussions are reasonably intelligent (you should read my Mazda site) and after a few years personalities become recogniseable and interesting. I particularly enjoy it when new junior members arrive full of enthusiasim for sailing. How many of them have faded over the years, or months in some cases.
Anyway dear, get on with the washing up now and stop being lame while I visit my 200 year old Solo and fill it to the gunwhales with resin.

I hate that, (the spellchecker inserting peeved when clearly I'm more than that) and wish to express it to the whole world wether they want to know or not, is that a crime?
I guess if you have thick(ish) skin you do wonder how folk can be so sensitive to what after all is only keystrokes in cyberworld, it's not real, if you don't log in, it doesn't exist. You can't really be affected by it in real life can you? Everyone in real life agrees that everyone else who posts on the internet is a (insert suitable profanity) then rushes back to watch/lurk/post more bollox..
It is entertainment, to while away those office hours between sailing, er talking mainly about sailing stuff with the occasional banal drivel and some absolute jewels of useful information, there's no need to be shy, most folk are anonymous so dont really exist, how can they possibly get upset? But they do, funny things humans, even when they're undercover they can still feel affronted, it's weird.

'lame female' must be the opposite of 'rogue male'.....only an auto censor could make me insult myself!
