Warm them up peel them off and if they leave a thick residue of adhesive then you've got a problem! The way to deal with this is to take them outside on a cool day, put them on a sheet of metal and paint acetone on the adhesive. Cover it with foil and leave the acetone for 5 mins to soak in. The adhesive softens and swells up you can then remove it with a scraper. It's a filthy job, you must do it in the open air and remember, acetone is a very dangerous solvent. I have done it on one set of sails and have no desire to repeat the experience.

I've just done this, had to remove numbers, a vortex logo and computer cut vinyl . Some came off easily with a hair dryer, but the sail nos left a glue residue which I had to use CTC carbon tetra chloride it's dry cleaning fluid it also removes tar and oil which we occasionally get on our beach. Useful stuff to keep around although probably carcinogenic and the stuff of fear amongst health and safety guardianistas

Evostik glue remover. The clue is in the name!
I've always found numbers peel off Mylar easily, but stick like **** to Dacron.
