Having recently launched a new Int14 I am wondering what to do with the old one. Sell it or use it for Twin Trapeze and Asymmetric Coaching days. I already do private coaching for sailors in their own boats so it seems logical to make use of my own boat. Picture of the boat attached.

A 14 would be a lot of boat to learn to trapeze or handle an assymetric in... Especially if it is a penny 14... What rule/design is it? ------------- |

My thoughts exactly. I would love a bit of trapeze coaching at some point but the 14 would scare the sh!t out of me. RS800 would probably work better in this scenario. ------------- |

Its a current rules boat, a Beiker 2 I already do own boat coaching in RS800 14s and occasionally 49ers, all of them are great in their own way and as long as the student is an adequate sailor in other boats (lasers etc) and not unfit It is not too hard to get them sailing the boats. I follow a routing of looking at Land drills for maneuvers, followed by getting the sailor out with me in the boat, both crewing and helming so they understand both ends. Getting the most out of them takes a little longer... ------------- Gone sailing |

Sounds like you know what you are doing and have done it before so I see no reason why it wouldn't work then.. Marketing it, different question!! That's up to you- maybe something along the lines of using it as a boat to develop skills they already have- or maybe get in touch with the UK 14 association to offer it as a try a 14 service... ------------- |

I would also try marketing it as an 'experience' ie as maybe birthday present type thing. It is after all soemthing a lot of us wish we could at least try, if not commit to. I would pay for a sail in one, especially with an expert at hand to help.

If you are handicap racing just tell the RO you are not sailing with the class rules and ask for this to be aken consideration in your handicap. If you are training not a problem. If you are at an RS open it is a problem but I think they allowed the girls at the nationals to use boom sheeting as an experiment. ------------- Bonnie Lass Contender 1764 |
