Why have Hobie entered 1 ancient cat and one simply old? Mind, with the way the ISAF works, they may be onto a winner...

Plenty of scope for ISAF making a mockery of the spectacle by choosing either Hobie entrant  but good to see the F18 pact to not go has held . Lets hope sense prevails and Nacra 17 gets the nod

Let's hope they at least go for something designed this century. Who knows, we could see triremes in the rowing next?

+1, seems exactly the right boat. The only one we'd sail over a F18 in reality. Sail with my partner and a little concerned we'll always be a bit too heavy for the 16s. Tornado's a quality boat, but not really enough to tempt us away from an 18, time to gently move on for an Olympic boat.

Possibly!

I've always thought triremes would make a wonderful Olympic class. You could use them for the sailing and the rowing, then have a new sport, ramming, and then finish with the open water swimming contest where the losers of the ramming contest have to get back to shore. In some locations, added sharks would make things even more interesting...

They would also make a very good platform for the Javelin and archery competitions.
