It was a weird day, started off West which is fairly flat, then a rainsquall came through & switched the wind right off, so the OOD said O.K. game on once it had cleared and everything looked tame, then everyone went to get ready, meanwhile yours truly was pfaffing about in the race box  and had spotted a new set of binoculars hanging about and had to try them, spotted sunshine and massive white caps off Dungeness so suggested to the OOD he might want to hang about a bit.
Meanwhile Tom had launched, then again Tom always launches he's very capable and often just goes out for fun if it's really breezy, anyway it filled in 4.2 weather on a windsurfer and there were waves and it was coming up low water, so the game changed as can be seen.

It's interesting that in a fellow sailors time of need, when his pride and joy is being battered by crushing waves, and most people around seem to be rushing to his aid, your instinct is to crack open the camera bag and stand back!  Glad you don't sail at my club.

Atrocity.

I also laughed and posted it all over the internet...LOL

It was Gods punishment for being over the line the other week and not getting called on it because he's a lawyer and would probably sue the race officer so he never gets called..

To be fair the guys in wetsuits were probably enough to help the helm out. In those conditions no-one is going to worry about the boat and rig. That'll get washed up in its own time and is probably best left alone until its back on the beach. Those are the only conditions that I'd drive my cat up the beach to get in!

The video does give a bit of perspective on why GRF likes to moan about certain dingy features e.g. fixed rudders and centreboards! Can totally see why now.

So thats why thew Vtwin 's bow is so ugly.....so you can just ram it up the beach in any weather.
You should have made it out of polyprop.

You might jest, but yes, exactly that and not wanting the joy of a lee bow induced forward loop.

I was also pleased to see Tom back on the water today, sporting a lovely carbon replacement mast, all he needs now is for those , <insert appropriate denigrating collective insult> in the class association to quit dicking around and permit the boat to be built down to some half manageable weight by Ovingtons and it would be a great boat.

We're building quite a fleet of them down at Hythe, Dumb & Dumberer  have gotten divorced, and Dumberer is now Contending and lucky for me today Dumb helped me to restore the natural order of things to the fleet today by crewing the Alto very efficiently.

We were talking in the boat park about the IOS and the MOK there will be a showing from Hythe, I hope to be around, it's a tricky time for me work wise September, but Andrew has agreed to do IOS with me and the Alto, see if we can't get it round just the one time without some essential bit falling off then it'll be Dumber & even dumberer. He's got a tow car, another issue for me, hopefully by the time the MOK comes round i'll have a truck capable of towing whatever I've got to hand boat wise. Did you know I've got this radical new single handed Wayfarer?Wink
