Yeah yeah very funny...
It gets worse..
http://thekiterepublic.com/showthread.php?tid=65 - This came to my attention today my nice hard core kite brand going all SUP lame on me, as if it isn't enough that I'm having to sell bikes with baskets on the handlebars for a living, I've just had to buy a frikken PC laptop to deal with the bloody French and their arcane crap Access driven databases, it's my wedding anniversary and I might have said the wrong thing on facebook...
Just one of those days eh?

Looking at your 'taking shape' pictures I am struggling to see much shape to your boat. It looks very flat and slab like? However not sure if it's the top or bottom I'm looking at. Can't wait to see it look a by more boat like.

Is the pole retractable or fixed? If its retractable, stupid question number one, but are all of the pole outhaul, and spinnaker tack lines run externally? If not how do they access through to the deck?

Er, this thread wasn't actually about my er dinghy, but in answer to those questions they'll be on the surface, think combination of RS700 pump system with provision for RS800 crew hoist points should we at a later date decide to make it a double hander.
As to taking shape, it'll have racks and latest thinking Vortex main and kite with K1 jib with pole system.

Why use the pump system.
I have always found it pretty pointless.
Keep it simple......

I'd never seen it before and think it looks easy to use and was fascinated by it, so given the criterior of this craft, which is to prove it is possible to design and make something both fast and easy< I thought why not, it wouldn't be difficult to revert back to a normal MPS style system, which effectively the 800 system is, so it'll have both options.

Sorry I missed the first part of the thread then.... Anyway, back to the spinnaker pole. So is it fixed or retractable??

It will swing and retract, like the Alto.

The pump system on the 700 is one of those things that's superb in theory, but as soon as the ropes or blocks get a little bit worn can quickly become a tangled nightmare with the kite stuck half up.

OK, point taken, pump is binned, so why do they persist in building it in the RS700?
No don't tell me.. The Class wont permit it's exclusion, better they all soldier on with a crap system rather than simply adopt the MPS/RS100 style system.
ER there will be no V-Twin class association.

The Canoe people, who do have a choice, use just about exclusively the pump system because they find it works better. If it doesn't work so well if poorly maintained then the remedy would seem to be obvious.

Because with a little bimbling up front, it works reliably and allows you to steer whilst hoisting & dropping the kite.

Well does it or doesn't it?
I've got an email box full of 'don't do its' and here we have 'yes it works fine provided it's kept well serviced' (which I do do with my ropes and bits)and Jamie reckons it's cool.
So who's right?
