went out sailing today in the boiling hot north wales sun and not much wind was pretty boring, as soon as the club racing had finnished the sea breeze kicked in really strongly (an almost instant f4) and then it very quickly turned very stormy we were out in the scorp making the most of the wind before we had to head in early due to thunder and lightening very near, it then chucked it down REALLY hard for about an hour n a half floodin loads of the roads around our club. but its hot and sunny again now, talk about extreme weather!

That sounds like a normal SIngapore sunday from April to October...the only time we get any wind to speak of at this time of year is because of the thunder storms.

Went out in the 400 at the weekend... (pond in Oxford) strange kinda wind really.
basically I think, an F2 but with 'holes.'  For us  'newbies' it went a bit like this..... F2 then a sort of  hole thingy that was F0 then up what felt like F5 though i guess was only F3 then back to F0 then F2, and after that you  would start all over again. Could they have been thermals?

and...... How hot! bet there are lost of these about   not red with rage...just RED!!   ouch sore!

the weather down here in germany is so damned hot! had a regatta at the weekend and on saturday was no wind so we had to wait the whole day but no wind turned up. sunday was even hotter but there was a bit wind. only problem was between nothing and 3bft was every kinda wind and the wind once came from east and then suddendly from north! you can imagine how often we had been swimming! and the sun is so agressive i have a serious sunburn and i look like a panda bear!

24th July, should be the height of the summer... Rain then showers, they said... Force 5 to 6 SSW, they said... With a high tide on top, there was no sailing today

Nice waves, though

I won't get any better if racing keeps being blown off as it was today... We were supposed to have our annual Youth Regatta, and include as many novices as possible... You know the conditions are not ideal for novices when you see THIS on the water!

Kite surfer having fun!

No sailing today, again! Too much wind, waves pounding on the beach... the swell's been building up for the last two weeks and we had a bit of a storm during the week... A fair bit of the beach got washed out and is still rolling in the waves.... Check out the colour!

I hope it's going to get better before the end of the season Smile

Mostly sand and shingle rolled by the waves... but yeah, I would have kept my mouth tight shut if I'd sailed !  Confused

sailing on a pond has some benefits, one being waves like that carrying sand and stuff not coming onto shore

If you think Jerry got shaken when he landed (he wasn't, although he bent his mast a little later that dayWink) what do you think of our rescue crew?

Try sailing a skiff on the fourth  (Scotland, near Edinburgh, Port Edgar and Dalgety Bay), last year our Regatta got called off in 30+ knots of wind, couldn't see where we were going due to waves.......Hats off to Ian Renilson, Gav Homer & Bunion for being able to sail (MPS & I14s respectively).

That would be the mid-1980s Rondar version, then... (to quote Contender443 who's reading over my shoulder and turning into an anorak).

That particular boat has a blue stripe in the middle, and had a big chunk of ice on the deck yesterday:

At the (would have been if not for the weather) RS Persuit race last weekend there was too much fog for us to even see the water!! But once everyone packed up and were going home, the fog cleared and a breeze got up.
There was no racing all weekend

We were't allowed out 'incase the fog came down again'. We did feel jealous of all those people who did 'have a drift around the lake'.
Still there's always next weekend...

Cry and it's the last day of sailing at LSC before Easter. Not that I would sail, anyway; I haven't got anyone to look after the little one.

ANNOUNCEMENT: If any of you is planning to join LancingSC next year, please do so, we're a very friendly club. The only condition is that you need to provide a non-sailing member to babysit the Commodore's lovely younger daughter! (wife, partner, grown-up offspring, granny, dog of respectable size... I'm not fussed, just let me sail Cry) - Thanks

We had a nice force 3 this morning down in Plymouth, a bit gusty though, looks like it will be blowing old boots this weekend though. Had a nice sail in an Omega (  ), had to race them with something wrong, ie centreboards up, as part of our course analisis on boat design, was a real good laugh

Had a "winter" gust come thru about 2 hrs ago.

Hail, loads of wind (F8+ at a guess - bit's of the garden are now where  the should not be and peoples car alarms were going off)
