Hi, I'm looking for a new bouyancy aid and was unsure about which one to buy.
It is to be used with a trapeze harness. I was wondering if the gill compressor vests were any good?

I use a neil pryde, very nice to wear, does not ride up at all when in water, compact so does not restrict movement, adjust by the sides not on shoulders so you don't even know that you are wearing one

I wear a Rooster BA, no zip to get stuck and very comfy, wore it with a harness no problem.

The Six Pack vest looks, wrong.

I wear the Gul Garda BA. It's pretty good, fits over a trapeze harness well and isn't too bulky. The pocket in the front is good aswell - no fiddly zips, just a velcro opening. My only problem with it is that the side straps are starting to undo themselves if I stretch because they're getting old, the BA is about 6 years old though.

The Compressor Vest thing looks very strange. It's like you're wearing one of those childrens superhero costumes with padded stomachs to make it look like the wearer has a six pack. I don't think they're expensive enough to be worth it anyway. Unless your sailing something like an 18ft skiff where wearing a normal buoyancy aid is dangerous because it can trap you I would just buy a normal BA.

The compressor vests remind me of this:

I wear a basic rooster one.

Those I know that have the compressor vest say that, despite the suilly looks, it is very, very good.

I've got a Gul garda- good, but the velcro straps are a bit unreliable.

Having reviewed them all, I'm going to get the Neil Pryde one but I have a couple of questions.
Should I get the 5000 Race, or the Elite High Hook, and regarding the sizes, does anyone know if the sizes are on the tight side or the loose side?
Also where is the best place to buy one?

Thanks Smile

Hi, I got it from boat bits in Huddersfield, it wasn't to expensive I have the one in the picture which I posted earlier and I can not fault it. I couldn't comment on the other style. Regarding size they are quite adjustable so there is quite a wide size range for each one, I am 5ft 6 and have a m-l, there is still room for me to grow a lot but fits fine when it is all tightened.
