Hi there, I am just wondering if anybody has a 29er which they will not be using during the youth nationals at Hayling between the 9th-15th and if they would mind letting me charter it, as I am finding it difficult to find a recent one for sale due to it been a very popular class. I am open to anything and I am really greatful for any help. I would insure the boat and replace anything if it breaks. Cheers

There is one for sale in Holland at the moment. I was looking at buying it, but have decided to go a different route. They are currently looking at what it would cost to ship over here. it's a good tidy boat, it might be worth thinking about it. Look on the international 29er site.

Cheers, I have seen it and did wonder about it but would prefer to go for a Boat in England. I have looked everywhere for a boat but had no luck.

The boats on the RYA 29er Marketplace are priced way beyond what they're worth. Although many are (apparently) in very good condition, boats that old simply won't have a high resale value. They're really worth about £2500-3000 at best, given that a 2005 boat with 2 sets of sails generally comes in at around £4200. Also, I've kept an eye on that site since I first noticed it 5 months ago (I've just been through the process of finding a second-hand 29er), and there hasn't been a single change on it; they're still advertising accommodation for the 2010 Europeans last September. It's almost certainly a dead website.

I'd guess a 400s boat with one suit of sails would come in at around £2500 plus around £500 if it's in good condition, so maybe £3000 (that's assuming there's a combi trailer). GBR401 went for about £2800 a few months ago, the advert said it had loads of kit but wasn't a perfect hull. That's just a guess based on the boats I've seen on the market in the last 6 months. The 100-300s numbers go for around £2000-2500, the 400-800s numbers up to £3800, and then 900-1500s go for £3500-5000. Beyond that, you're into the last 2-3 years, and not many are on the second-hand market.

Best to have a look on apollo duck, see what similar boats are selling for, although the ones at the moment seem a little overpriced. Allow talk down room and I'd put it on at around about £3400; there's a lot of demand, and seeing none on the market for an entire month can mean people are willing to pay more.
