Hi, Doing a bit of research for my club.

How much call is there for coastal powerboat course in the east midlands area. We could do coastal endoresments to an existing powerboat level 2 certificate or a complete coastal PB2 course.

If you have PB2 inland is there any point in doing a coastal endoresment if you are only ever going to use a powerboat on a lake ?

How much do you think is a reasonable price to pay ?

I am trying to convince our committee to spend some money a RIB and need some figures.

Hi we used to do PB2s for non members at £200 at my club (South Coast), which undercut the commercial places. It was a good way of making a few quick bucks once in a while. However, we don't do it anymore. For various reasons. Firstly, we concluded that the primary reason for having a training school is to bring people into sailing and into the club, not fund raising. The training school is entirely volunteer run and if people start putting a lot of time into what are basically semi commercial ventures then there is a risk you undermine their commitment to volunteering - most of us do it because we enjoy teaching sailing. Secondly, our resources are limited, in terms of total numbers of volunteer hours, numbers of trained powerboat instructors etc, and we've decided that what we have available for powerboat training is better spent on getting members who are going to be taking the power boats out on club sailing days trained up to L2 and safety boat.

I would be quite interested in getting a coastal endorsement for my safety boat ticket, because I might be interested in becoming a Coach Assessor.
