I currently only use Sailwave for major events - we have a club programme which we use for club racing - but I want to switch to Sailwave completely. One problem is that we have some long series in which it is possible to sail different boats. If a competitor sails a Laser for the first three races but then a GP in the fourth race how do you prevent Sailwave re-calculating the Laser results using the GP PY - or, if you enter them as two different competitors how do you link the results to read as one competitor?

I'm sure there must be a simple answer to this: I just don't know what it is. I would appreciate some help.

Thanks.

Its a right ****** pain in the neck - not Sailwave's fault admittedly. If you go to the result cell you will find a "rating " tab where you can set the rating for the individual race and optionally for the rest of the series (good when owner has changed class). I usually put both classes in the class name box and put which boat in which race in the comments box, but I bet I still get some wrong, especially for the series where we use dual scoring with personal handicaps so I have to fill in a different different handicap in the aliased result...

One of the reasons we switched to a 'boat to count' from a 'helm to count' system.

If someone genuinely switches class mid-season, they can apply to the S. Sec. to count both sets of points together, but otherwise it stops people selecting their 'weapon' according to the breeze.

The one exception is that we allow Lasers to swap rigs (they never win at Wilsonian anyway). But then you're right Jim, it is a pain - and changing the PY setting is easy to overlook when you're entering the results.
