That hurt watching that.  I may re-post on the Dart 18 forum.  Need to ensure this guy doesn't get sold another Dart!

If you mean the swimmer in the first few frames, I think that's a surfer paddling out rather than a crew. I think he was sailing s/h

I've watched this a few times and it looks like he is moving around on the boat following an unexpected tack. My guess is that he was hit by a wave on the nose that pushed the bows round, and caused the tack. It would also have killed his boat speed and made what happened next all but inevitable. So his mistake IMO was 30 seconds before this clip when he would have been sailing too tight on the opposite tack against breaking waves.

Just my guess tho

Don't think that's totally fair! We did our best and with two masts breaking on Friday I think coming in was probably the sensible option. BSC rescue teams did a great job.  BTW only one 'd' in Shadow - one of the things we share with the  Tornado ;-)

They did indeed do a fantastic job even with Geoff being distracted by his Go Pro camera.....

Yes it probably was the sensible option to stay on shore, the waves got pretty big out there at some points.

Hope to see you again at the next event, I will work on my spelling in the meantime.

Looking forward to seeing the footage. I didn't get to turn mine on as, needless to say, I was a bit busy on Friday and didn't venture out after that .Ouch At least we got several boats converted ready for the new big spinnakers. Maybe we should have gone for yellow ones again instead of blackLOL

No, I was sailing the Tornado.

Geoff Gritton was driving the boat and provided the head camera - www.tb4e.com is his website.

Apparantly Seb was on the chicken wire but it didn't work.........

Why sorry for his wallet?; I'd bet the only thing they might have broken is the shockcord on the crews trapeze line.
