Right i've moved abroad to a contry called England..... and i'm after a new sailing club.  I'm living in Sale so a club within 1/2hr - 3/4hr away.  Looking for high standard of club sailing.  Is Leigh and Lowton the only option?

Thanks Alex

been through that, but you don't get a feel for the club.  Currently making a list of all the membership fees.... I did have a great deal from PDSC looking at these fees!

Inland clubs are generally more expensive as they have to pay for the use of the water they are on. Costal Clubs do not hence why they are (generally) a lot cheaper (the likes of Hayling Island et al excepted).

Many clubs reduce their fees now we're in the second half of the year.  If not, you might find it cheaper to wait for winter memberships to come up; they're often a good way to by pass the joining fee.

the same, but different...

Wouldn't the class assoc website be a good place to start - ask about clubs with your preferred model of yacht?

Alex,

Many many years ago I too was a resident of Sale, in fact I grew up and was educated there (although I'm still not sure about the educated bit) and as a pure coincidence I too was a member at PD.

Anyway to try and help, I was a member at Elton SC when I lived in Sale, a bit of a distance as it's the other side of Manchester, but the motorway network is good and travelling time not too bad. Its less than 20 miles and google maps says around 30mins depending on where you live in Sale, thats about the same as Leigh and Lowton.

I also believe there are still one or two Phantoms there to play with.

Hope this helps

Thanks Roger,

Narrowed it down to L&L, Delph & Elton (which luckerly has a Phantom open meeting this weekend ) so they better impress

Alex

I purchased my 300 from Delph last year. Looked a nice set up apart from an almost terminal lack of water at that time.

Have you had a look a Bolton SC 150 trees have been felled around the club millions spent on the dam wall and the water should up by Oct

L&L is the place to do any winter sailing, lots of people from clubs around all travel to L&L for the winter.

HI Alex.. Come to Bolton. I sail a 300 and we now have a couple of Phantoms that should be out all thge time. We have had issues (like most) of Water but we are now filling up rapidly and have resumed racing. I am currently at Leigh but will return in the next couple of weeks. If you want, come and try us for free and make up your own mind, but in summary, huge water, just short of a mile, great location up in the hills with good wind, great bunch of people and good racing.. Any questions give me a call on 078416 36736. Cheers, Stuart.

No problem, just make sure if it's a Sunday you bring the boat and come for a sail.. You would actually be the 4th Phantom, be racing against 2 regular RS300's, Supernovas, Merlin Rockets, RS400, RS200 etc.. Good fleet and a good bunch.. Anyway I will stop selling now.. Cheers,

Stuart
