I was looking through the results of the Fireball worlds and couldn't see a race winner for race 3.  There was one entry, David Wade, who scored 22 points and was marked SCP.  Was he the race winner?

What does SCP mean?  I tried the internet but got the Society of Catholic Priests, and I'm pretty sure that is not what it means.

Near miss there, you could have been just one click away from something  very unsavoury!

Sorry no idea what it means, await a definitive answer with interest. Is there anyone here that actually sailed the event (lucky B*%)+#?£$) who might know?

Sailwave lists SCP as "Scoring Penalty under rule 44.3"

Points for place + number of places in SIs or 20% of boats in the series if not specified in the SIs.

Possible Z flag violation perhaps? (rule 30.2)

Yes, it was Dave Wade and Richard Wagstaff - there's a http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/community/comment/default.asp?type=1&id=151594 - discussion on it on the final day report - click here.

Nope it was Dave Wade and Tim Saunders. They screwed up the start and had to do a penalty but only did half the 720. As a result they were protested, knowing htey were going to loose they took the option of arbitration and suffered a scoring penalty.

Pretty daft mistake to make at the worlds!

Doh! Sorry, I should have known that. Aren't Dave and Richard an old Fireball pairing?

That'll be why there was no race 3 trophy awarded, then. Couldn't work it out at the time. Dave & Richard used to sail together, but a while ago now...

Why wasn't everyone down to 22nd promoted one place?

Because rule 44.3 says everyone else keeps their same position.
