Does anyone know of any (cheaper?) alternatives to the
Crewsaver inflatable marks? I'm looking for a set of spare
marks to be used when changing course, preferably in black

we use these:

Developed in cooperation with the French Tornado Olympic team. This buoy is specially desingned for the training of top regatta racers, speed challenges and sailing school training sessions.

It can be used either as a drifting buoy, or as a traditional regatta buoy, with the additional advantage of small dimensions and ease of use.

Is that the triangle marks or the cylindrical ones? Also where are they being used sea, lake ?

Cylindrical/dumpies would be preferred. To be used in Southampton Water (sea/estuary).

Thanks Alex, but I don't think they will be easily seen on a decent size course. I'm surprised you need them at PD, I thought you just bounced off the shore line

At Weston...just down the water from you, we use the pyramid from crewsaver, but have got some of the cylindrical ones from crewsaver too. We tried those plastimo ones and found them only any use for training, or small courses.

yes we do a lot of that

Our beats can be over a mile long and we don't have problems seeing them

we've put a metre of chain attached to the buoy then the warp, then another metre of chain then the anchor.  works really well in one of the most tidal places in the uk
