Hi there,

I am needing new sails for my Microtonner but unfortunately my student loan does not quite stretch to new lamiate sails.

However, I have found laminate sails currently which were designed for an F18 which have the same foot measurement but too long in the luff.

Question is; would it be possible to cut lamiate sails down and have reefing points added by a local sail maker?

In theory yes, but there are a lot of buts...

Firstly I'd question how useful catamaran sails are going to be on the keelboat, because they sail such different regimes,

Secondly an awful lot of modern sails are cut with radial cut, and chopping the bottom off one of those could really mess up the load paths
