I'm currious to hear peoples past experience on this one...

When a fitting needs to be placed on top of progrip (i.e. like a kite halyard block), can a waterproof seal be gained using the standard sikaflex approach? Or, does the progrip need to be cut away around the fitting to garentee a watertight seal?

We always used a waterproof bathroom type sealant to seal fittings, we found that when we used sikaflex the fittings leaked and were also a right bugger to replace as they were so well stuck on!

Regardless of the pro-grip, as long as you have plenty of sealant in the hole and on the screw it won't leak.

You might get a firmer fixing if you don't mount it on a
piece of foam though.

I guess it depends on the thickness of progrip and if you are screwing or bolting, (although for a kite halyard block I would bolt every time) but the progrip might work like a spring washer and keep it in place.
