Well I enjoyed it today, spotted a few people from here, but they were busy when I past them.
Really enjoyed the Volvo Car experience outside, if you are going tomorrow, register http://www.rya.org.uk/programmes/dinghyshow/Pages/VolvoCitySafetyTowingregistration.aspx - here

Anyone visiting on Sunday, say hello to me on the 3000 stand (twixt 14 & Tasar, opposite Ovington's). Take a look at my boat with two jibs hoisted, giving a comparison of our current Dacron and Mylar jib options (quite interesting the difference in roach - I should have doen it sooner!)

I thought this year was one of the best ever!!
Very interesting to see Mike Lyon's new creation, the A Rater was fantastic.
The only slight disappointment, I really wanted to see the trim tab centerboard on the Dead Cat Bounce National 12. None on display!! shame!!

Had a really good time, met up with some friends not seen for a while. I think we all owe Gail and Mark a big thanks for backing the show,
It was great to catch up with you both (even if I did get collared )

I had a good time, the RS100 looks brill the way they logo'd it up and I got
another glass of bubbly, that's two in thirty years.
Saw Nice but Tim and Rodney who was much younger than I expected,
met Alstorer who robbed me blind, Slippery Jim's wallet remained elusive,
he shall now be known as Bar dodger Jim, Hector, Rich briefly,Jolly Jack Tar
who is yet to post but assures me he will eventually, loads of windsurf
faces I hadn't seen in ages, I talked til I was hoarse.
Saw loads of interesting stuff, didn't realise Phantoms could have
mainsheet travellers, there was one fitted by someone called Bob Bits or
something (aren't they the pseudonym for the ars ticklers and fggts fan
club?)
Saw a really well sorted Blaze, going to take my camera back tomorrow,
got to speak to Mike on the Alto stand eventually, he was busy, met Mark
(Jardine) who has anovel solution to the daggerboard v centreboard debate
and took me to meet Steve Cockerill to chat about it and masts and stuff.
I had a good wander round, there's a blindingly well sorted foiling moth,
forget what it's called now, I'll grab some pics tomorrow, there is so much
to see, even better than last year, I love this show..

Indeed, and I did wait for ages by the Dakine stand for grumpf to stop talking....but he didn't. Then I realised that if I went and stood near him it would only increase his small man complex, so I wandered off,....

I went up to this girl I'd seen on the Contender stand, she'd been talking
near the Dakine stand, 'Er excuse me, are you vanessa' said I, like a corny
chat up line, naturally she perked up being approached by my devastating
manhood, er no she said I'm some unpronouncable femail handle that was
nothing like Vanessa or Wing Wang. I apologised said I thought she was
someone else I knew who sailed a contender, upon which she looked even
more quizzical in a what woman in her right mind would sail a Contender
sort of way and almost snarled back 'no I sail a Streaker and stomped off,
same sort of boat I guess.

so we passed like ships in the night....or would that be like my contender zapping past whichever craft you grace with your devastating manhood?
how sad...
Did enjoy the show though. Well done Y&Y.

Had a good day; it really is a fantastic show. Hope have a better look around tomorrow.
Thanks to those who turned up for the Sten & Rick show, all the seats were taken & I didn't see anyone walk out half way through so I guess we were making some sense; on again at 11:30 tomorrow

Great show, i saw Grumpf but i was Manning my station so couldn't walk over and chat. Only issue i had was the parking and the shocking traffic on the way back out, it took me 4hours 30 mins to get home!! I LOVE the Icon, great looking boat and great value, only thing i am not keen on is the bubbly faux leather grip on the side decks (Not a deal breaker), other then that it looks great maybe in a year or two when the little girl is a bit bigger and i am a touch richer. Took loads of photos of the Winder Mirror, so i can re-rig the daughters boat properly. I also loved the new deck layout on the D-one, great job Rodders and team.

Did enjoy the show, Russ did you find the 300 second hand boat list in the end or was it removed by RS?
100 looked pretty sorted design wise, though slightly worried the boat on display wasnt a prototype as some of the finishing on it left a little to be desired.
Nicest boats there would be a toss up between one of the 14's, the black moth or the carbon assym canoe. I was happily surprised, I sail a 300 and there was nothing at the show, in my eyes anyway, that looked as simple and uncluttered as the 3! Which leaves me still happy with my choice of boats. Got a few pimping ideas for the B14 too from the one on their stand too so will be putting some of those to use tomorrow. Thanks to those guys Al, Barry and someone else that I'm sorry i didnt catch your name for taking time to talk to us.
Good show, well done to everyone who helped organise it.Thank you.

I said to the wife on Friday 'Guess who we might meet on
Saturday'. Her first reply was Bryony Shaw but her second
guess was Mr Grumpf!
First pass of the stand we saw who we assumed was a
'Daughter of Darkness'. Second pass we saw Grumpf but I
agree with wing wang, it's like trying to stop a steam
train when Grumpf is talking to somebody!

Saw loads of people I talked to, many others I waved at because they were talking to someone / on their way elsewhere or I was talking to someone / on my way elsewhere, etc.
Good to meet you, Rick and talk boats a bit. Went to drool on the RS100, would like to try but doubt if I can; very impressed by TT getting a quote as advert! The power of chequebook sailing has no boundaries
Saw Grumpf several times, didn't want to infringe on his important person status activities especially because I imagined he didn't wish to be associated with the likes of me. (I was wearing a t-shirt with the Specialized S and "Special Needs" as a slogan )
See you all next year!

Well you imagined wrong BNS, I love meeting new folk with a common
interest, say hello next time, if there is a next time, the daughters of
darkness weren't too happy with our effort there, but I had a good time
just the same and their views don't count just yet.
I do much prefer just visiting however, it is a lot of work for not a great
return but then it's not really our sector. I did come back and try and find
Alstorer but he'd vanished.
I shall certainly be back next year..

I thought the show was brilliant. The rs100 is a bit nice isnt it. I still
thought the 300 looked better though! Anyone get some good
bargains?

Ham4sand, the class know of a few second hand boats and had made a list which mysteriously vanished from in the boat. There are suspicions that RS removed it which is a little short sited imo if they did as new people in the class even if in old boats will still buy new sails and gear and may eventually upgrade to a new boat!
If you are considering a 300 we have a good fleet at Draycote and im sure you'd be able to come and have a try of the boat.

I was looking around and I also saw an asymetric wayfarer.
When was that developed?

The Wayfarer 'World' was basically a cockpit layout which had built in buoyancy and bailers etc. This was built by Porters and was available with either symmetric or asymmetric spinnaker options.
The latest Wayfarer was designed to overcome the shortcomings of the World, and so is easier to right from a capsize and is more visually appealing. (Phil Morrison designed).
This latest Wayfarer is available from Hartley Laminates and can be specced with symmetric or asymmetric options. Not class legal but good for sailing schools. Not hugely popular as most training schools just like a basic boat.

Show was great with some excellent boats on show. Nice to see real used boats on the stands such as Roger Gilberts I14. So far as downsides .... I specifically went to join the RYA and despite them having a huge stand in the entrance, I was told that they could not take membership applications at the show and that I should go home and apply on line!!!! Other major dissapointment was the parking ..... I was running slightly late and didn't get there until 11 a.m. (opened at 10) Sat, by which time all parking was full and I was told to go and park somewhere in town miles away. They did hand out an illegible map which showed no car parks! and was about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike, so that really tainted my whole opinion of the day having walked miles up the hill to get there and my 13 year old son had certainly had enough by the time we actually got in! Overall, great show but wrong venue .... any suggestions on where we could hold next years???? NEC?

Great show wrong venue has been a lot of peoples complaints for a long time. Personally I do like Ally Pally and tend to get the train rather than drive (didnt make it this year though). Were it at the NEC I would still go, probably more regularly but the cost of hiring the NEC would probably mean the tickets would be a lot more expensive.

Your probably right about NEC, but there must be somewhere large enough, bags of parking, good accesabilty, reasonably central (London to midlands range?) and therefore accesable to majority????? ..... and not tooooo expensive.

But, let's be fair Ally Pally is far, far better than Cyrstal Palace ever used to be!
I think you would struggle to find somewhere better - yes, there are shortfalls in Ally Pally (catering - but the same could be said about Excell).
I would like to see an RYA/exhibitors lounge at Ally Pally providing food. This may encourage people to actuallly join the RYA (Just recently got my GOLD membership card, and proud of it!!). I got so fed up queuing for food, and then having to sit on the floor to eat it!! Maybe I am getting old and turning into a grumpy old man!!
