So there will be a second edition of 'the race'.  Will we see more than 4 boats on the startline? Will the old designs be able to keep pace with the likes of Groupama3 and BPV? Will any of the Oman 100s make it across? Will someone try and build a wing-powered version of team philips, only without the air bubbles?  would the ORMA 70's try and join in?

Boats I'd like to see on the startline:

Groupama3
Banque Populaire V
at least one Oman 100
Orange 2
l'Hydroptere (either the current one after modification, or the bigger one they have designed)
Playstation
Club Med
BMWOracle/USA17 and/or A5 (just for the comedy value!)
Team Phillips Mk2

Any others?

Yeah, major internation recession & financial crisis going on. Just the perfect time for some really conspicious consumption on the sailing sponsorship side...

I'd love to see Team Phillips Mk2.  Great memories of meeting Pete Goss when I was down that end of the country and being in awe of the whole project.  It would be fantastic if he resurfaced with a new version.

Otherwise those French loons and their hydro-tri would be amazing to see.  How sea-worthy do you think it would be on a long distance race though?

They are planning on building a 30m by 32m maxi for doing
longer distances. Which would be a very impressive sight
to see.
