There seems to have been an outbreak of common sense at ISAF. The modifications to the rules seem to have tidied up a fcouple of unintended but potentially messy scenarios.

Link to Y&Y article ( http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/?article=149666 - clicky ) and ISAF Supplement ( http://www.sailing.org/rrs/supplement1 - clicky ).

Anyone care to explain exactly what the scenarios are that have bought about these changes? I am assuming it is do to with a port tack approach to a WW mark that is to be rounded to port....

Because... at the windward mark, for the port-tackers, there is a bit of a conflict between the 'windward boat keep clear' call on one boat,  and 'water to bear away behind a starboard tacker obstruction' on the other - resulting in a nasty crunch!

The decisions on each of the submissions were listed here:

Cheers guys I am pretty sure I know what the issue was now. Thankfully no one has tried that near me I would not have known what to do....
