Right. Who wants a nice wooden Snipe?  This has been stored for a few years under a large open fronted arch, so protected from the elements with plenty of ventilation. The hull is intact with no huge holes or rotten bits that I can see. It has centre plate fitted, has a rudder... BUT... no trolley, spars, sails or rigging. It would make a great project for someone...... Naturally, you will need suitable transport to take it away. Please respond to me ASAP as the council are moving it out cos they need the space. I can send a couple of pics to those genuinely interested. Location: Margate Yacht Club, Kent.

THIS BOAT IS TOO GOOD TO DUMP!!!

I've heard about you hooligans who go round lighting bonfires & setting fire to anything left lying around.... you're a menace................

Maybe so, but if it needs a complete new rig etc it will cost more to put it on the water than its worth. The only person it would be any use for is someone who owns a rotten or otherwise useless Snipe they can transfer everything across from. Unless you can find someone with a worse hull or more free storage then the fire is probably the only practical option.

All I can say is ..... what a waste!  I get your point though. As a youngster I'd have killed for a free boat to bugger around with.... even if I just paddled the darn thing around the harbour! I was kinda hoping that maybe someone might like it for a youth restoration project or some such, you know learn a few skills on the way & get on the water eventually.....

No boat without rot should be burnt, its a crime (unless it's a Bosun of course, heh heh).

I wonder if the class association would be able to store it. Can't think of many other options, other than putting it on ebay for 1p.

If you know anyone going to Orkney, they have a big fleet up there! It is where all the old Budworth ones go out to pasture. Only several hundred miles away...

It might be worth putting a note up on the classics forum, www.cvrda.org.

As it has no trailer it could also easily be popped in a car boot to take away like this contender

Errr.... Hopefully above is a pic of the boat - I've
never
done this before so here goes....

Anyway, Yes, you could fit a motor to it.... I know
someone
who did once with a bit of ingenuity... & yes,
Rockhopper,
it will end up on Westwood Cross roundabout if somebody
cant give it a home!!

Bugger, it didn't work....

Kind of what the cvrda forum ends up doing a lot of the time. Must take a good look at that link when I have more time. Bed time story time, now!
