Is this a girls only discussion?
I too am a lover of the 'smashing orangy bit' but my wife can't get her head around the cake/biscuit conundrum so I'm not allowed any in the house. I have to make do with Tunnock's Tea Cakes.
What about sponsorship from McVities?

We're not the only ones to discuss those yummy cakes at length and waste invaluable working hours . The very respectable Winnie-the-Pooh society has been there, written to McVities and got a reply!

You've got to believe it, Spot... We're talking English people there. Eccentricity is part of the fabric of life... And don't imagine that Winnie the Pooh societies are for kiddies....... No way! Respectable blue-rinsed grannies discuss at length Owl's reading abilities or pore over a map of the 100 AKER Wood. No wonder they need Jaffa Cakes to survive!!!

In fact the cake/biscuit debate was won recently by McVities because they proved the difference between cakes and biscuits is that when stale, biscuits go soft but cakes go hard.
What I can't fathom is why VAT (a tax on luxuries in theory) is applied to biscuits but not cakes - never mind, long live the JaffaCAKE.

ahh thats an easy one soz i study accounting. well its because anything with chocolate is chargged vat because its considered confectionary. so chocolate biscuits are allwaysds more expensive. and unfortunatley jaffa cakes are included

Spot, over here we get all sorts of Jaffa Cakes, you can buy normal Jaffa Cakes, Dark chocolate Jaffas, Jaffa Cake bars and Jaffa cake mini rolls and mini Jaffa Cakes.
If you wanted some proper McVities Jaffa Cakes you can buy some on ebay i think!
did you know the original recipe for McVitie's Jaffa Cakes is a closely guarded secret, the delicious combination of light sponge, dark chocolate and smashing orangey bit in the middle was first created over 60 years ago. Back in 1991, we fought a battle with the VAT man to prove that Jaffa Cakes are cakes, not biscuits, and therefore should not attract VAT. In 1994 McVitie's launched Mini Jaffa Cakes and Jaffa Cake Bars, to appeal to the growing lunchbox market. 1999 saw the introduction of the innovative 'Tubes' packaging and 2002 was the year of the Jaffa Mini Roll launch. Jaffa Cakes are known for being irresistible but unfortunately, not everyone is prepared to get their Jaffa Cakes honestly. Remember the Munchkins, who would do almost anything to get hold them! They were followed by another desperate mob in the 1990's known as the Orangey Tangs who loved the orangey bit in the middle so much so we had to completely cover the Jaffa Cakes in chocolate, for a limited time, to keep them out.
