Hi all
I've made some changes to the http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/classes/?s=44 - National Championship Attendance Table for 2009. You can now sort by number of people sailing at an event as well as boats.
You can also fill in the Gear Guides for the nationals that have happened so far this year. Just go to the relevant class page and scroll to the bottom. The http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/classes/?s=42&c=4 - B14s have already filled in a couple as have the http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/classes/?s=42&c=25 - Graduates .
Feel free to post your comments on this!
Cheers
Mark

This is interesting. It means there were a staggering 81 entries at the Beneteau 40.7 nationals. It sounds a like a crowded starting line until you realise that 81 entries equates to 9 boats.

....or you click on the little sailboat icon, which lists and sorts by number of boats., rather than the person icon, which lists and sorts by number of people.
With the bigger boats though: is the number of people sailing a 40.7 fixed, or is the 9 an average, with the total people the number of boats multiplied by this average? Or is that the actual total of all the crew lists as submitted by the class?

We're using an average (or rather, the most likely number) when crews exceed 4 or 5.
Not including the Ultra 30....

Whjat about the SB3? From what I've heard, there's a fairly even split between 3 and 4 man crews on those? I'd say I'm sorry that I'm nitpicking, but I'll be honest here instead...

The 'number of people' option is a bit of a blunt tool, but it gives a fair idea. The SB3 really is going to be a difficult one - maybe I should set the average number of people to 3.5? No doubt then there'll be an odd number of boats at the event and it'll say something like there are 150.5 competitors at the event!
