The forum search function returns a list of the threads that contain the search word(s). However where the thread is very long, it is not possible to find the page of interest without scrolling through all of the pages.
This means that searching the photo and video threads (for example) is not practical.

Is there a way the search function can be improved to identify the page(s) of interest?

(other than using google with site:yachtsandyachting,com in the search string as that does not always find stuff in the forum)

Um, interesting one, would be good if you could, but I have noticed from other forums they show the thread and not the post.

You're right, i've tried to do searches here but give up, frankly the search facility is a bit useless, but then the forum software here is probably pretty vintage by now anyway. Another forum i use has search that works perfectly. It uses http://www.phpbb.com/ - http://www.phpbb.com/

Hands up, yes, it's awful. I confess to noticing that a few times (don't use search much) but I havent really considered a fix.

I will make this a task to do in a quiet moment sometime this quarter. Rather busy for now!

The way Google can restrict a search to just one website is great. Sadly they can't update their records more than once every few months, so recent items would not be found.

Google should be indexing this site a lot more than that and so the search, if suitably coded shoul dfine items, but still it' not ideal.

Maybe it is time or the Forum to go to decent software such as vBulletin.
