Now this is the way to stir the pot!

"Alinghi is very proud of the 14/16/18/20 teams entered in what may or may not be the 33rd America's Cup, yet we all know that a number of the teams are pipe dreams at best.  Alinghi's last-minute push for challengers of questionable viability is clearly a move to influence the NY Court of Appeals, while at the same time casting a shadow on Auckland's upstart Louis Vuitton Pacific Series – and today is the deadline for entries.

When we learned that Alinghi waived the entry fee for a number of prospective challengers, a light bulb went off here at SAYC headquarters:  We have our own bona fide Yacht Club.  With the inaugural CHAW, we “have” an annual regatta on the ocean, and we have thousands of members – many of them with the skill and experience to match some of the other challengers - at least.  And we're likely to be in existence long after all of them. http://www.sailinganarchy.com/fringe/2008/121508_sayc_acnoe.pdf - So we entered .  We'll let you know how that turns out."

This should be a right laugh,

Hopefully it will allow SA into the meetings to get a better & less bais veiw point then the PR machine gives out to the masses.we may hopefully find out what is actually going on!.But I douth it I think they`ll cotton on

Rock on SA

just when politics and litigation was starting to make you too jaded about this sport something like this happens and makes you feel good about the world again.  I really hope this sticks and they get to race.

FOR REAL

To those of you who thought that our Anarchy Challenge AC entry was a joke: Think again. Our first Press Release has gone out - an appropriately collaborative effort that we think sheds some light on our reasons for trying to enter the 33rd America's Cup. http://www.sailinganarchy.com/fringe/2008/121708_SAYC_press.pdf - Enjoy .

This is the follow up should be good, god I`m loving this!

I was reading this yesterday on SA and it's fantastic. Apparently most of the crew want paying in beer.

Thats pretty much the underlaying point.. . At best its descriminatory, and at worst its illegal.

They would have been better of allowing SA in without a fight and hoping that they ran our of time, money, or momentum to continue on their own. As it is EB has displayed his dark side to the world once again and he has only managed to motivate the comunity further.

Petition for those interested...

http://www.petitiononline.com/sayc_ac/ - http://www.petitiononline.com/sayc_ac/

For the first time in the America's Cup's illustrious 160-year history, the United States may not be represented in the competition for the world's oldest sporting trophy.

We, the members of the Sailing Anarchy Yacht Club (SAYC), the host club of the "Anarchy Challenge" sailing team and a bona fide Yacht Club, and our supporters in the global sailing community, are mystified as to ACM's apparent rejection of SAYC's entry for the 33rd America's Cup.

As the lone entry from the United States of America – the nation with the most prominent part in the history of the America's Cup - we are disappointed with the lack of respect and due process afforded our entry. While we have yet to see a single official response to our submitted entry, we are aware that a number of other teams have received assistance and extensions of their incomplete entries. We do not understand this, and believe that this inaction casts a significant cloud on competitive sailing around the world and the advancement of grass roots support of our the sport that we are so passionate about.

SAYC's nearly 1000 members come from across the globe. We are modest sailors and experienced professionals. We are Optimist families and 18-foot skiffies. We are the sailing industry and the most conservative of cruisers. We are people just learning to sail, and circumnavigators. Our fans and supporters include the 20,000 members of the online sailing community, as well as many of the one million monthly readers of Sailing Anarchy, the website that led to the founding of SAYC.

We hereby petition ACM, SNG, and Alinghi on the following points:

1.We request that ACM, SNG and Alinghi commit to open and fair discussions with SAYC on its inclusion in the 33rd America's Cup and associated events – just as ACM, SNG, and Alinghi have done with other challengers.

2.If ACM, SNG, and Alinghi stand by their rejection of SAYC's bond fide entry, we request that SAYC be immediately provided with a formal rejection of SAYC's bona fide entry, including the specific reasons for the rejection, as well as the terms of the extensions and agreements furnished to other prospective challengers for the 33rd America's Cup.

3.We request that ACM, SNG, and Alinghi respect the traditions of The America's Cup Deed of Gift and the "Basic Principle" of sailing by conducting a fair and transparent process to all challengers so that the America's Cup and competitive sailing can be regarded as a fair sport that embraces people from all walks of life.

Every demand ACM have given them has been met (baring the entry fee which has not been payed by a number of the other 'entered' teams)... just waiting on the responce now.

Outstanding!

Here in the UK we love an underdog. Wouldn't it be great if an organisation representative of the whole sailing community can put a rocket up the postulations of a couple of billionaires. This AC business has all got beyond a joke now. I say take them to court!
