very out of the blue, considering all major TV
channels and newspapers forecast this snow in the
middle of last week, and were spot on!
Only the road gritters and snow ploughs managed to
avoid noticing that they were needed!

I was being driven by a friend a few years ago when he had a slight accident in freshly fallen snow - managed to hit this poor sod's car and almost knock a wheel off it.

"Sorry" said Rod.  "Road han't been ploughed yet you know".

"I know" said his victim "I'm on my way to work.  I drive the ******* snow plough!"

damn cold today (-9°C) and the bloody snow has now turned into ice!

Posted By: timnoyce

it has been a bit chilly recently hasn't it! not the best scenario when you have to break the ice out of the RS600 when you're still learning to sail it as the capsizes are inevitable! The reservoir water at burton must be pretty close to freezing as it is MUCH colder than the sea at the moment!

Bring on the summer!

Now Spot192, I think you've got a point there. Even hydro wouldn't be so enthusiastic if she had to plough through that stuff every day! Well, after the novelty had worn off, that is

But I'm sure you get nice, hot summers which made you forget all the white stuff for another year

A quick glance at Spot192's profile should be enough. The clue is in "Germany" as an answer to Location

But it's a race against time and elements to reach the next star , no time to lose, gotta post! I've been there (and still am!)

thatīs right the summers are great in bavaria. this heat wave summer, 2003 i think, was .... i just canīt find words for it! every day 30°C minimum! but i believe the summer here is better than urs but ur also save of the masses of snow and the cold temperatures.

It's been snowing here all day. The main roads are clear, but some of the side roads are completely white. I must admit the novelty's wearing off.... especially because we're in March! (sailing season's starting in 3 weeks, arrgh what am I gonna wear???)

We've had loads of snow where we are, in Brighton, yesterday, but today most of it is gone, at least on the main roads. There so much grit and salt on the main roads that all the cars are the same colour now:

Shouldn't be a problem for the dinghy show, I hope, cos we're supposed to get there at 10am!! I'm not even sure it'll be open at that time!!!!

If you see a whole bunch of guys coming out of a conference room, looking fed up, at 1pm, feel for them - they're working for our own good  (Mr commodore sir!)

Tell me, you seem to be a girl of class and refinement...

how on earth do girls keep their make up perfect when they sail??
If I forget to remove eye make up, I look like a panda bear (ok I capsize a lot  ).

Thats what I've always thought... but in our club, you see these pretty teenagers (who incidentally need NO make up) go sailing all groomed and pampered! Worst thing is, they come back from a race as neat as they were

There's only one explanation: they don't try hard enough

well some water proof mascara is really waterproof but not much.   the girls that come bakc in loking perfect probobly ran to the loos to re-apply before going up to any1 the thing i have a problem with is my hair, its my pride and joy and the amount f moey i spend on hair products!!  but when i go sailing even if i dont get wet my hair becomes a salty fry matty mess!!  apsolute disaster!

Yep, hair's taking a bashing during the sailing season, even if you don't sail. That's when we notice how important good showers are: got to wash all the salt off - can't look a mess when we're having a coffee with the boys !

At our club, there are two seasons for sailors: the sailing season, from end of March to end of November, and the DIY season, the rest of the time!

Needless to say that some "Home sweet homes" are not as pristine as the wives want them to be

At home, I do my own DIY while Contender443 looks after the children - he's a   really.... Until the 27th March. Then he'll be sailing!
