Hi,  again I need your advice please.

In my quest for a 2nd hand 400 I have been told of a possible problem.....

The 'floors' of some 400's are very weak, to the point of failing. This happens in the Helms part of the boat.

Can any of you enlighten me on this matter.

There are quite a few at my club and I haven't seen a failure. Its inland so the stresses are probably lower than a sea club. I have seen a boat with a crack on the kick bar, but it would hardly be a difficult fix.

one of the frloors in a rs400 is they keep over taking me lol na they are good boats and fairly new. you shouldnt have too much problem with a second hand one, not as it is such a new boat.

I've not experienced this problem but I'll ask around.  However I'd have a good look in the area when buying - it'd be sure to be noticeable.  Under the floor is the bailer and although it can be replaced this is bound to show up any lack of care, I would suggest you have a close look at a few other 400s so that you know what to expect.

Sorry a bit off topic but you no lasers have those black strips going across the cockpit where normally the side toe straps would be...........What are those things that look like kick bars ?

They look like they would make it really painful to hike !

you dont tend to feel it you get used to it after a while, though i know one sailor who's doing an olympic campain now who used to sahve the back of his legs to stop it!

yeah - they don't hurt but they're good for roll tacking. why bother shaving your legs... just wear longer shorts!!
