Hi,

I have been given an Mystere (5.5 I think) catamaran, which I am trying to get to grips with as it is my first experience of cat sailing.

The shrouds appear to have stretched as I am told the mast is raked too far forward and I cannot rake it back and keep any tension in the rig.

I have tried searching the internet but have not been able to find any information about setting the baot up. Does anybody know anything about this boat that may be able to help out?

I would also like to know what sort of weight is required to right it. I am just over 100Kg and wonder whether I would be able to right it on my own.

Any help would be great.

Many thanks

Steve

John,

Thanks for the link. I have posted a question on the forum, but from reading some of the topics it looks like the newer Mysteres are a different boat. ( I found out mine is probably a 5.0S)

Simon,

I am based on the Thames in Essex

the mystere was built by sailcraft [Brightlingsea] as a tornado trainer.

If you can find someone sailing and older [single trapeze, soft rig] Tornado, you could set it up in a similar way.

Alternatively, get some new shrouds made to give a bit of mast rake, say about a foot. The wide centerboards of the mystere mean that it is not that fine a balance between rake and helm balance.
