Apparently there was something about Weymouth 2012 on the TV today and they are going to use a liner as the athletes accomodation. I think this is ruddy genius! It saves building and knocking down stuff. Just drive it in, use it and drive it off again... Easy.

Given the UK budget they will probably rent a prison ship ...

Yes it was John Craven on Countryfile this morning. I found the accommodation to be pretty interesting, a good idea!

Nice to see people using money sensibly. It's a top idea.

Actually I heard that they have to get approval not to also provide accomodation ie a bed space in London for all of the sailors and other athletes who are competeing elsewhere.

What I'd do is wait til the sailing is over and take the liner round to the thames it'd only take a nights steaming.

I might be sailing it, but it's still sh**e!

That is an excellent idea, I heard on radio 5 that with the now fixed budget, if they want a better opening ceremony etc., cuts will have to be made elsewhere, so they've said that they won't be building accomodation in London for competitors who are competing outside of London.  Your solution of using a cruise ship, then sailing it round to the Thames seems perfect!
