Has anyone else noticed how many sections there are on the 'funny' side
of sailing. We all seem at the moment to want to see or read about
other peoples misphaps and mistakes!!
I have just had a great chuckle on this fog bound monday morning (at
work). It got me thinking.....are we all in need of some summer
sunshine and those long hours of daylight! it is a sign of SAD -
sailing adjustment disorder I am sure I suffer, as I just love those pics and messages of embarrassing moments etc.
PS a huge thanks to all those that have contributed to the embarrassing moments, good on ya!!

Summer was last seen going south, though rumour has it that it is
heading back up north to our shores (and of course - inland waters!)

I'd have to agree its more tempting to stay here than to go to germany generally a warmer climate

sorry to disappoint you dave, but iīve never seen blue see in germany.
just the small dark green lakes all in inner germany. if you go up more
to the north, to travemund or kiel it was always raining.
pretty girls maybe but the boys arenīt half that handsome. point for england.

hey most of the germans can be very funny! (when theyīre drunk.)
bavarians like me are in a certain way humorous. not everybody can
understand it......
iīm a bit desperate now. i think brits will win the "competition".
and donīt take my posts too serious either!

Warnemunde was much warmer than here when I went last summer. apart from that hay when the heowge squall ripped up the race course. That was cold, other than that, warm.
|

whatīs a "heowge squall"?
but itīs not normal that itīs warm in warnemunde. with what boat have you been there?

thanks for your help. iīm a blonde. (itīs a good excuse to me, but to
be true iīve seen the avatar just after posting the message. stupid
question, but it was already posted !)
why are you answering for him?

Because Pierre is a helpful kind of guy. Blokes with a French name usually are, especially if you're a blonde!

Back to Germany, do you guys ever see the wind? Whenever I've been near one of your lakes, it's been like a mirror!
|
Posted By: Spot192
Date Posted: 15 Feb 05 at 4:19pm
sometimes even we can see wind. nobody will believe it now but itīs
true! but it only lasts for about three days or maximum 5 days. the
rest of the time you can check your outfit in the water.
one example: last year we had one week between 20-25 knots and the
class wich had a regatta in our club said to the comitee that they
wonīt start when the wind goes over 18 knots.
germans are great experienced in windy conditions!

Blimey these last couple of weeks have all been about 25knots at my club.....................Very good

youīre kidding!!!
yesterday i had about 5 knots and today 15!!! and there is this bloody
nature saving law that says we arenīt allowed to go sailing before
easter. hate bavaria! i think iīll move to britain!
|
Posted By: Rob.e
Date Posted: 26 Feb 05 at 9:17pm
Come to Hayling, plenty of 14's in the harbour, and not enough wimmin (thats women in English) in the fleet. We don't have a nature saving law, it's just nature won't let you sail much before Easter (Too damn cold!) Plenty of wind here though!
My German windsurfing buddies used to drive miles (Kilometers?) to find wind: I met them in Tarifa, Switzerland(No, really!) North sea...some even came to England!
|
Posted By: Black no sugar
Date Posted: 27 Feb 05 at 12:28am
Hayling? As in Hayling Island? Your German buddies probably had problems to understand why they were sent half-way through the Channel when sailing an Open meeting. Some competitors in the Contender Nationals last year were towed back to civilisation, otherwise they'd still be struggling now! (naming no names )
Great clubhouse and great people though - shame sailing widows cant get a glimpse of the action!

thanks for translating the women thing!
iīve seen on the europeans how less women are in the class! but the men werenīt bad...
iīd love to go to hayling! ve seen pictures of the clubhouse and heard storys......and the 14 there would be great!
i drove miles and miles to find wind. only lake garda on easter was
best. but really really really cold. 4 years ago it started snowing
there. so howīs the weather in hayling?
