Day 1 of the Royal Western Yacht Club's IRC SW champs was a day that most will want to forget. Three mast breakages plus one serious injury resulted in more boats retiring than finishing races. Difficult East - North Easterley winds swept over the course with varying winds between 25 - 30 knots and the occasional 35+ knot gust. For me the on the  water racing was well run, But the Western need to learn how to 0rganise a piss up in a Brewery if they want a successful regatta.

Nice pics Tom, let us know when the full set is available to view.

The X99 (shown in the bottom pic) did an amazing job to keep the rig in the boat, Ended up with one of the most interesting bends I have ever seen in a rig. The other two rigs to be damaged was another bent rig on a J80 and a complete dismasting of the Laser 28 Alibi.
