Well GGYC (BMW Oracle) and SNG (Alinghi) are going back to court again - this time to choose a date to hold their Deed of Gift match for the 33rd America's Cup.

I find it amazing that two of the richest people in the world are having such a public feud that is damaging sailing so much.

I'll predict now that they'll be back in court at least once, probably twice after the event, and there's a 50/50 chance there'll be another court appearance after this one before the event.

The AC is what it is, all you can do is enjoy the spectacle of rich men making themselves look foolish, and there is, after all a certain pleasure to be had in that:-)

I quite agree that this is doing sailing no favours. There have been a few threads recently about sailing being a elitist, rich mans sport and this will reinfoce that view to many people.

I'm not sure what Alinghi expect the court to say. Justice Cahn in his last order says clearly that the court proceedings do not interupt the 10 month notice period and that he expects the first match to be on 4th July 2008. Hopefully he will stick to this and then Alinghi will be forced to forfeit. I agree with Dalton that would be best for everyone now.

I don't know what was said when Russell Coutts was sacked by Ernesto, but the feud does seem to be personal between the 2 of them.
