Now that the old c***s have ruined every child cat sailors dream and removed the best discipline in sailing from the olympics what is the pinacle of our sport,  Is it tornado,f 18, aclass worlds or something else. also winning which nationals deserves the most respect.

Got a couple of kids at our club (just starting out in a dragoon) and would be interested to know what they should be aiming for.

Hi,

I'm a dragoon sailor also, what are the kids name at your club and what club are they at and are they in the hobie dragoon squad??

Now probably they should be aiming for F18s, biggest high performance cat class around, thats what i'm aiming for atleast.

Olly

I'd say it is either Ocean multi's or the Vx40's

Can someone lend me 1/2 million for a boat and some travel expenses - Don't expect to get the monmey back

Apart from that, enjoying sailing the best boats in the world which ever one it is.

At the moment its the Olympics. In 2012 it probably won't be. In 2016 it ought to be on again if the multihull people change their tactics and start concentrating on dealing with the real issues that led to the Tornado deselection and not on bashing everyone in sight and conspiracy theorising like mad.

But as for your kids, how about suggesting they aim to have fun and sail as well as they can. Grief, what does it matter which particular trophy?

Actually you could argue that the real peak of multihull sailing is the C Class world championships. What could be better than the coolest raceboats in the world?

The Hurricane 5.9 Anniversary Trophy (awarded in its 20th year to the sailors who came 20th at the Nationals) is without doubt the most prestigious award. Closely followed by the Corona Cup, awarded by BYC to the Cat crew who win the the early summer points series. I could take a pic of my sideboard if anyone is interested!

Anyone?

No?

(Last year coming third in the Icebreaker Series was THE award but I failed to defend that title this year so it has lost its cachet)

jim they could have fun drinking coke eating crisps and chocolate while play their playstation, but they want to acheive something in their lives.

when a ten year old asks you what they should aim for now that the olmpics is only for monohull sailors, you have tell them not to give up and set them a new goal.

Aiming to achieve the balance they need to get off two hulls and onto one!
