Today the owner of a EPS was asking my advice about his mast.  There is an alloy sleeve where the gnav is attached.  The corrosion is begining to de-laminate his carbon and the sleeve is coroded and cracked.

Is this best left untill it fails?  Does somebody know how to fix it, or should he have a go?  He hasn't really got time or enough knowledge to be confident of a good repair.  I should point out that the sleeve cannot be replaced since other fittings would prevent it being slipped over the length of the mast.

Has any EPS owner any experience, or has any carbon boffin got any ideas?
