WOW just got back from QMSC and the sailing is amazing!!

The wind was blowing Force 6-7 and the guys there weren't capsizing. There had been alot of retirements during the race, but the guys left standing were very very good. There was 2 Fireballs and 1 Contender doing really well I think they were winning but the standard of sailing there was impressive.

Anyone else go down for a look?

Chips Howarth and V. Townsend won in a Fireball- that's what it said on the front page. I didn't go but when i went last yearfor a topper event it was a 6, 7 in the gusts and most of the topper fleet finished, it was amazing sailing. I wouldn't like to see the launch/recovery anarchy again! and this was in boats that can be wheeled up the banks with the need for the lift thingy- i bet it was crazy!

It wasnt that windy last year!! You might be thinking of the junior bloody mary... however that event did not reach a force 7. Saturday's event was seriously windy- 140 boats entered and lots turned up but didnt enter because of the condtions

We did it in a 29er and it was auwsum, suprisingly it didn't look like too many boats broke!

I think that every boat capsized at least 2 including the fireball that won, some guy said that his windometer was gusting over 36 knots !

annoyingly we rigged our kite wrong so had to come in to fix and missed the race but still went for a blast any included a couple of pitchpoles!

It was a shame that the report was a bit wrong. For example the race was lead for some time by Paul Cullen and Jon Ching not Matt Larkin and Dave Mason (both Fireball teams from Weir Wood). Until Chips snatched the lead...
