Hi what a great forum - thanks for all contributors _ I am watching & learning! - I have a slight leak http://www.windline.net/proj4.htm - http://www.windline.net/proj4.htm & in anticipation of the job - I am GUESSING it is likely to be in the join in the entre board case (there is a nice rough ridge there that I can se someone has been playing with silicone sealant around the area !) any proposals on how to effect the repair ? I guess get rid of the silicone (white spirit?) & then fill the ridge with epoxy? any advice happily & humbly received! thanks Richard |
on my topper spice fortunatley it is not enough to slow me down much 
(well less than my sailing "skills" anyhow! 
) and I am planning my winter project!. I have seen a helpful article on finding a leak.Replies:

Daggerboard case leaks on self draining boats are a real pain unfortunately. You've got a crack through a high load area, poor access and you can't add any structure on the outside.
You can try removing all the dross and filling the crack with a flexible epoxy mix (high in microfibres) and it might slow it down a bit. Other glues/ fillers might be a bit better than epoxy. However the only way I've found of really solving the problem is to cut a hole in the false floor, properly beefing up the join from the inside with extra laminate, and then repairing the false floor again. This is exceedingly a last resort! |
