Does anyone know the names of the old Laser gelcoat colours. I've got to repair and old dark brown standard Laser and a purple Laser II. Most online sources only stock white, blue, red, and Laser don't appear to stock these colours anymore so a source would be handy

Thanks.

you could call laser direct and ask them for the pigment(?) of the gel coat, they should have that on record if you give them your boat/sail number.

I give Laser a go but I wouldn't bet on it as they will clame that they have never made yellow L2000s

yet I believe they have.

I know clame is the wrong spelling but I can't get any where near on my online dictionary to find the right one.

Most good chandlers will supply pigment to put in your gelcoat. The gelcoat needs to be clear, not white, though. You might need to experiment with quantities a little to get the genuine "faded brown" look you are searching for...

By the way, Foamin', it is claim, which is odd, as if you have a bad leg, you are lame, not laim, but who says English is logical!

The 'standard' colour pigment won't match what's on the boat, 'cos it'll have faded over the years.  I sent a small sample of gelcoat to Rondar when I needed do do some minor repairs & they sent back a pot of colour-matched pigment very quickly. The bad news is that the invoice arrived a few days later!

...think I'll try the cheaper mixing option, red and blue =purple maybe.  I've found one called bitter chocolate, if I add a bit of grey to achieve the faded look.  will T cut or similar prior to mixing.

Used to manage a paint shop years ago and the trouble we had colour matching, I might have to put up with close ish.

What will happen though is you'll polish through the layer that has faded and get the origional colour back. An invisible repair is almost impossible on a boat over 15 years or so old.
