on the forum recently.

First of all, a new member, Haggis1, posts a link to a website of his, petitioning for the Scottish ensign to be flown by Scottish sailors. Pretty innocuous I thought, and Haggis (the real one) was one of the Forum Founding Fathers.

So I replied to Haggis1, asking if he was related to Haggis. When I came to post the answer, the upload took a huge amount of time and an error screen appeared, saying there weren't any posts in this topic. I assumed that asking for the scottish ensign was akin to terrorist activities and that one of the moderators deleted the whole topic.

However, unknown to me and probably about at the same time, my Posts count got reset to zero and I have become a Newbie! Years of hard work down the drain!! Shocked

It hurts, you know...

So, well done Turnturtle, you've become the King of the Forum. As for me, few might remember that I used to be the forum mum...

Seriously, anyone knows what happened to Haggis1 post and to my stars?

The Scottish flag post was deleted as it was not relevant to the forum it was posted within.

No idea about the stars though....but if 3 independant people can confirm an approximate number of posts for you, I will weild the mighty power of admin, and kick you up into the higher echelons of 5 stars again.....mum...

Hi Mags

BNS is the forum mother - all hail the great and good

Isabele was at around 3300 - 3400 posts, and I think should be the first and only holder of the mystical sixth star - Computer Implant Complete

I formally second this post and confirm the veracity of the numbers quoted.

Are you kidding Mags? Everyone knows that BNS is the Mum!

And she had several thousand posts to her name.

BNS? Never heard of her.  Oh wait, is she the one who bought a 18' skiff?  Or is she the one who sails a Feva in Dubai?  Or maybe its a skiff in Dubai?  I dunno, I think she had about 15 posts (per day).

BN who??

Date Posted: 14 Nov 07 at 2:37pm
I do know who she is! Just needed to know a roughly-correct number to assign, and of course I couldnt accept her own evidence in such an important matter.....

The mythical sixth star eh? Surely a master-poster such as she would be able to transcend mere stars, and interact with the forum like Neo manipulates The Matrix?

Either way, I'll need her to bribe me with more chocolate cookies before I will consider anything over 3000 posts!

Whilst I've got you here Mags, is there any chance you could change my name?  'Chew my NS' seems more appropriate.

Clap Clap Yipee! Thank you, thank you everyone for your support!

And MerlinMags, you're a star (and I know about those, I've had 5 to my name for a little while now ). When I come to the Dinghy show in March, I will outdo Headfry and cover you in chocolate biscuits TongueTongue

PS. How did you get to change the location under your name? Guilford isn't that far from here: I sometimes cycle there and back in a day, with a half-way stop in Southwater. Might see you around!

I didn't realise you couldn't change a forum name....had never looked. Well, anything is possible when you have the magic keys to the database, but perhaps I'll have a think first to make sure it doesnt break anything. Drop me an email to remind me though!

If you use the new community pages then you can edit your location in there - the forum only allows countries to be picked from a dropdown list, but the community bit overrides it.
See http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/community/ - http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/community/

Cover me in chocolate bicuits? 3458 of them, to be precise? Perhaps just 2 would be better....I eat too much as it is...thank goodness for a super-high metabolism.

Got it! I've changed my location. Much more precise than the old "United Kingdom".

As for the chocolate biscuits, perhaps we should revive the Jaffa Cakes thread as a healthier alternative?

Please start a new topic titled the "The definition of Bollo** according to Merlin boy" so that Newbies can avoid offending you.....

Eaaaasy! Scroll back in time to Merlinboy's first posts

... or Carshalton's, or Knightmare, or Sailor Girl's, or Dr Clifford's, or BWD... To be honest, the first six months of the forum were mostly taken by people slowly discovering what star you were going to get next.

In those days, four stars was all you could get, until Mark Jardine created the "5th Star Status" for Sailor Girl. She'd reached about 700 posts at the time. After that, "Really should get out more" got awarded at 500 posts.

Brian decided he didn't want to be sooooo sad and stopped posting at 499 for a long time. He tried to come back recently but the old magic wasn't there any longer; he couldn't recognise anyone.

As for old codgers like Pierre (he joined in March 04), he's still here, alive and kicking, and the fountain of all knowledge!

Shocked You like living dangerously, do you?

And, as BWD's spiritual son, how can you say you're a git? That would be offensive to our revered leader whose learned and enlightened comments have always been a source of inspiration in the past.

LOL

And NO, don't dig out that disgusting Santa photo again!

Last bunch of ossie sailors I met all had beards, ome still smoked pipes and all of them were older than me which in my book places them in the old codgers bracket.

I don't know what tablets you're on these days Rog, but you'd better reduce the dosage.    Mind you, It was probably that you were the only person they could relate to.
