Someone told me they saw something in Y&Y about a new, two part coating you can get to put the life back into old soggy spinnakers. He said something about nano technology and Chris Draper recommending it. Does anyone know what he's talking about and if so, have you tried it, is it any good and where can I get it? |

The whole pot covers a kite about the size of a 49er. It makes the kite last about 6-10months longer. Got mine from LDC when it first came out, and have been well impressed with it. ------------- Cheers Dudes |

I didn't follow the instructions, but didn't need to cover a lot of spinaker, so chucked about 1/3rd of each bottle into a bucket, added some water, and sloshed the kite around in it. Had enough for 3 repeats ( would have done more if I had time ), just make sure you dry it between applications, and keep the bucket inside somewhere - ( So kids dont mistake it for the "wetsuit wash" bucket! ) I did mine about a 2 months ago, and its still going strong! Has made hoisting a bit easier, and it sets quicker as well ( doesn't stick to itself any more! ) Unfortunatley it doesn't restore the old shape - but hey, I have about 2 sq ftof extra sail from the stretching! Gonna be using the last of it to recoat the fireball's kite in a few weeks, and its an old kite, so the difference should be quite large! Use of the product: You get 2 x small 100ml ( ? ) bottles, you are meant to put a certain ammount of each bottle into ( i beleive ) 2 litres of water, and then sponge it on to one side of the spinaker, allow it to dry, and then repeat on the other side. spinnakers actually shrink with age rather than get bigger. So they are smaller and out of shape.

I use prolube, just spray on a little bit and in the mouth of the spinny chute as well, works brilliantly, about 4 pounds per can i think.

Be carefull with some of the cheaper stuff, it leaves your spinny nice and leathery, a guy at my club used some stuff called Thompsons and it wrecked his one, it is really leathery and has delaminated in a weird way. ------------- Laser 184084 Tasar 3501 RS600 698 RS600 782 |

I've tried fabsil before and it didn't seem to make any difference. Its a B14 spinnaker we'd be using it on which is quite a large area. I think anything in a spray can won't work. I've thought of using mcLube but it would probably be cheaper to buy a new kite. |
