True,

Heard last night that there is a good contingent planning to come down
from Orkney SC for the event. It is nice to see a major event within reach of
them up there for a change!

"assume you know your SCHRS rating for your machine? Bearing in mind the
ratings changes? Have you changed everything about lately?"

blatently aware of it ! schrs dudes  wont allow my reduced waterline length because I was too poor to get it measured officially pre jan 2007 !!

although slow boats like Tors ,5.9s etc get it as theirs  was measured for  them

and yes there has bin some changes -

you'll see my form for current rating soon , in post

(I like cats too - looking at me you would think I'd eaten a whole one !)

Catmandoo,

I encouraged you (a number of times) to get your boat measured last year.  Boats typically cost about 60 quid to get measured.

yup read my statement above - I was too poor ,yup £60 squids (thats 4 bottles of malt or 12 bottles of paint stripper !)  a fair bit to me , you told me  in october 2006 .  not exactly the time of year to get suitable conditions and daylight to measure waterlines , coupled with getting a busy measurer to do it , non starter !

Still think that when  a rule makes retrospective allowances , it should be on manufactured dates (everyone else seems to do this in other areas ) , I trust all other pre jan 2007 boats that have been built but not measured will be treated the same .

anyway its all irrelevant in this topic , racing nessie is what its all about .

you coming up or other f16's fra blast

I also told you over the phone earlier on in the year and also via email when calculating your old rating.

Edit, and to answer your other questions, yes any new boats (such as say putting a larger rig on an F18, different rig on a Tornado etc would get measured under the new rules.

No, not planning to bring the F16 to see nessie, I'm flat out at work over that period I am afraid.  Looks like it will be the ECPR and then Grafham for the yest of my opens for the year

Now we know the most Northern entry whos the most southern?

Posted By: Nessie
Date Posted: 23 Jul 07 at 4:10pm
Mr O,

I thought i already mentioned our 'Southern' competitor!

Yes, the prize for furthest travelled is hard to beat, with Andrew
MacPherson of Gosford SC (Australia) making his way over.

Any Kiwi's want to steal his thunder?!

He may be planning to fly all the way, but it is probably quite possible to
sail here from Gloucestershire at the moment. Watch out for those pesky
traffic lights, though!

Macca is looking forward to it says he should have recovered from the Archipelago Raid. Wants to know if the water will be warmer though!

I plan to release a full list of entries about two weeks before the event.
There are a bunch of slackers that i know are coming, but have yet to pen an
entry form!

VX40 Basilica confirmed last night that they are DEFINITE, and will be
blasting up and down the Loch on the Friday sizing up the course!

Well, we now have entries or assurances from over 40 catamarans.

If everyone who has sent an email asking for information shows up, we'll
have over 60!

40+ makes the MDI Loch Ness Monster Race bigger than the East Coast Piers
Race, and bigger than the Weston Fast Boat Race, 2007.

Go on, you know you want to!

It was a fantastic race. A setting in beauty 2nd to none. A race every cat sailor should do. Food at the Dorres In  is great and the hospitality by the hosts was good, hope the rest of the competitors had such a good race, plenty to talk of in the bar after the race.

Basillica almost didn't make it to all the marks 1st, they made it to the 1st by a few feet over a Tornado and a Tek-kat and then ran away as the wind built.

Think we raced in all conditions and all points of sailing were covered just going into 1 mark!!!! Not sure if it was sure determination or the bigger sail plan that helped!

paper to fancy computer!

2nd (and first Scottish Boat)

A truely F*kin awesome event once again ,

Winner Andy Mac Pherson who had travelled from Australia to take part likened it to Texcel and the Archiapeligo raid which he had recently completed  in stature of challenge , and a race that has to be done !!!

Nessys' breath eventually came to fruition after a slow start 90% of the distance must have been covered in wind that reportedly exceeded 30 knts !! and was totally mind and body numbing FANTASTIC !!, the highs and lows you go through on such a long race in such winds is absolutely amazing and something everycat sailor should experience , the fleet was over 40 boats and despite crews being totally exhausted all vowed to return .

I covered a distance of 50.1 mile and only two capsizes !!!

Can't wait for the next one .

Was also awesome to see the likes of Basillica racing and the beautifully built Tekcat ,

I predict this event has more "monsterous" growth still to come as the word of Nessie now spreads world wide as Nessieites gabble insessantly over a pint when ever the opportunity arises .

If you weren't there you certainly missed out on one of the most challenging and awesome distance races we are lucky to have in the UK .

As they sang at closing time in the pubs of Glasgow in days gone by "come on and have a go "  are you up to it ?

There will be more

Many thanks to Chris Browing and the SNECCA team and the sponsorhip by MDI, Blaser Chiropractic , JJ Cats ,Cairngorm Brewery , DH Systems and the Dores Inn was most appreciated.

And the Farmer who kindly gives the use of his field without which the event would be impossible .

                  (I like Lochness - but couldn't swallow it whole - tried !)

Will get macca to put it in his diary.... not sure if GBR 406 will be there, a second trip down and up the loch or is it up and down, Nessie might not be so gentle with her next time!!!! but will make sure we do our best to be there in something.

After this weekend I now know how clothes feel in a washing machine on a cold wash!!! Beginning to find the bruises.
