The http://www.marconi-sc.org.uk/ecpr - 20th Marconi Sailing Club East Coast Piers Race is to be held on the 8th July 2007. Marconi SC is on the river Blackwater, Essex.

For those of you who haven't attended before, the race is a long distance catermaran race starting off Osea Pier, down the Blackwater Estuary to Bradwell, across the Estuary, and then along the coast passing Clacton Pier and turning at Walton Pier.

The race is for big and small Cats, the smaller, ie Dart 15's sail the shorter Colne Point race.

There is camping available Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. For those thinking they get a lie in on Sunday may be proved wrong as the start is around 08:30.

For the notice of race, and other details including the safety requirements, check out the website, http://www.marconi-sc.org.uk/ecpr - www.marconi-sc.org.uk/ecpr

If you would like to enter but don't have a crew etc, then post or pm me as there are people that may need someone to crew for them.

Now that WOULD be fantastic.

I'll be there fairly early Friday (planning to get out for a sail if I can).

If you need some help, I'm sure there will be a few people around Friday to help out.

Big-C - Yes you are more than welcome to come I'm sure. There are moorings that the boat can be left on if you need to while waiting for Man Power!

T435 - c u friday.

As for everyone else, if you haven't yet taken part, why not, its a great long distance sail using the handicap system. Check out the website http://www.marconi-sc.org.uk - www.marconi-sc.org.uk for more details.

For those that know me, I'll not be bringing my trusty green WRX this time as it turns into something else (A very silly WR1) on Saturday - but no tow bar; so I'll be bringing the Wife's V70

The plan to sail Emma Hamilton round has just fallen flat on its face.

The dolphin striker assembly collapsed during The Round The Island on Sat we now have a very bent main beam and cracked beam sockets in the hulls (could be worse at least the new rig stayed up!)

Hopefully we can get her repaired intime for the Peters And May Fast boat Race @ Weston in July

Unfortunately, as you know the club isn't situated close to a BIG village, the club has just got its dialup account set up. This can't be used though!

If you are lucky there may be someone with Web and Walk on their phone at the club, or you could try the nearby village with your laptop! (don't tell them I said you could)

We'll be there on the Blade, turning up at some civilised time on Saturday.  I'm driving back from Frankfurt on Friday (via the 'ring ) getting in in the small hours, so I won't be up too early.  Any idea what time the practice races are?

Paul,

Last few years there has been a short briefing at about 12:00; then out for a quick race and then back in for a spot of lunch, then back out (and usually) down to Bradwell.

However, the wind forcast is looking not good at the moment - so I am contemplating sailing single handed with all 3 sails....

Having spent the day on a Support Rib I was aware of the camera going around on the Orange Tornado (with twin 70's). The photographer is a Marconi member, and I believe they will be posted on the site. If not, I will ask her for the pics and upload them to the site myself.

Glad you had a good time, shame about the lack of wind to start with and hope you managed to get your takeaway ok.
