Just moved the 29er from SIngapore to Brisbane and when it came out of the container it had developed a couple of splits along the glue line between the hull and deck mouldings around the transom.

One is about 6" long, right at the aft port quarter, the other is half way up the flare above the chine on the starboard side, about 4" long.

The hull and deck mouldings have literally separated at these points...

Any ideas on the best way to repair this much appreciated.

Cheers.

Hug BLOBBY!!! Hug

Good to see you here! It's been ages...

So, are you moving to Brisbane for good? Moving the boat seems to be as permanent as it gets.

I hope you'll find a bit of time here and there to share your wisdom with the forum, or simply to make us sick with envy (here, it's raining hard, it's 9ºC and windy - height of the summer, English way).

PS. Sorry about your boat, no idea how to fix it. Contender443 would suggest gaffer tape but he's not here right now

Good luck and take care,

xxx Isabelle

As you're in the right country I'd just ring up Bethwaite design...

Did you remember to take all bungs, hatches and everything else possible off before the boat went in the container? Containers can get extraordinarily hot if your one is on the top of the pile: if the tanks were sealed the air pressure...

BNS - We are all definitely in Brizvegas for the next two years...should be good fun!  For some reason gaffer tape just doesn't feel like it's the right answer...

Jim - called Julian and have a recommendation for a couple of local guys to have a look at it but no easy "just do this" solution.  Bungs were out...

i reccon that cleaning the gap.  geting alot of clamps and some 1x0.5 wood lengths and put a bog of epoxy and microfibres in there with some silica to make it a bit stiffer. then fill the gap and clamp the pieces of wood around it v tightly and leave for a few days.  then is should be ok.  make sure that the hull is fully dry before doing anything tho.

hope that helps

it worked on my 404
