Replacing the numbers on the sail that Contender433 gave me (thanks again Mark ).

Peeled off the old numbers but there is loads of glue residue - Do i need anything special to get it off or just soap and water?

An Alcohol based solvent will do it, or Acetone, or Petrol, but there are better people than I who will tell you which will knacker your sail

brasso would work without damaging your sail too much....it's what I used on my kestrel when I bought a second hand main....worked really quickly and didn't damage the sail.

If in doubt phone a sailmaker....
I think the last time I did such things it was some international paint thinners that was recommended...

P&B do a special solvent though it's pricey.

My guess is that it's really acetone. Once, for the want of anything else, i used Hammerite thinners which ate it no problem and didn't seem to damage the (Dacron) sail.

upvc window cleaner --- solvent not cream works a treat , on dacron sail apply it to other side from the number and let it soak through , if lucky number comes off with all the glue ,  mylar sails peel number and clean up  easy.
