As per my reply on tea or coffee, i am getting increasingly sick of bar sailors.

These are people that feel they have authority to pass judgement on how people sail etc. then give you tips once race is over.  They are also the people that never sail they just sit in the bar supping IPA, muttering.

I even heard one say the other daywhilst he was sat on the balcony, what is that boat he is sailing? is a bespoke home made kit job, never seen one of them before!

I was sailing an INTERNATIONAL OK.

Maybe not a huge class but still pretty big!

What is he doing at a dinghy sailing club??

Chill out baby... you'll be the same in 40 years' time!

I’ll have you know, young whippersnapper, that I win far more races from the bar than I ever did on the water!

All-round sailing knowledge increases exponentially with the amount of IPA or Guinness consumed.

Don’t forget that it is the “Barroom Sailors” that subsidise the running of your club, sheltering you from the true cost of providing your changing/shower facilities, boat parking, race management and safety cover, which may be the only reason that you can afford to sail and race in that club in the first place!

So shut up and take their years of hard-acquired insight into the sport of sailing gracefully. BNS hit the nail on the head, when you stop growing spots on your face and start sprouting hair from every orifice you will be little different, no doubt sat demanding respect from the young brash upstarts who are spoiling your enjoyment of a nice pint on a Sunday lunchtime by sailing like complete and utter plonkers.

I agree I always sail the perfect race from the comfort of the bar......

Good job I don't stay there much

You get them in every sport. My favourite ones were the old boys at the cricket club who could call an LBW decision from the Square leg boundary...

Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and
oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital
ingredient in beer.

If you can sail as well as Keith Paul (67-year-old unbeatable from Weston), I'll be very impressed...
