The most memerable part of my time sailing toppers at national events, has to be a nation wide at Poole yacht club. The fact is i was about 11 or 12 at the time and at one of my first majour sailing events. I was sailing down wind on a run in about 20knots of breeze (that to me felt like a force 7!!) towards the bottom wing mark when i encountered a wave about 5 foot high (im not exagerating) when a gust hit my sail and plowed me into the back of this huge wave, the bow was digging in to this wave and slightly pitchpolling. The force of this flung me towards the front of the boat. As i flew towards the front of the boat i managed to slam head first into the bottom section of the mast, cutting my forhead! Well it hurt and i was rescued by my dad in a rescue boat. But as he said to after a plaster and a cup of tea.... Bones heal,Chicks dig scares,Glory lasts forever!!

'Chicks dig scares'

2 points, the first one.....chicks dig a good fright, mmmm ladies??

secondly, tell them you did it in a Topper and see what happens, if I were you I'd embelish it to a I14 or the like.

I might be sailing it, but it's still sh**e!

lol yeah the topper isnt so sexy. But any 'lady' who knows what one is (and isnt impressed by it) is likely to have a scar equaly as impressive - with a better story

TT, you're forgetting one of the principle rules in life:

- The "Good bloke" never gets the girl !!

That would "ruin their friendship"

Turnturtle,

I'm too old to go to university again now, i would never want to be classed as a mature student.

If i was i would probably shy away from nottingham, i'm not a big fan of violence or guns and as you said it is the gun crime capital of the uk

ANy well balanced female should be happy with a few bits of carbon, nicely finished off decks, laminated sails.  I just dont get it? instead she wanted chipboard cupboards and stainless appliances.  WHATS WRONG WITH HER.

Alas the merlin had to go when she fell pregnant.  Which was probably a good thing because i was crap in it.

Ah you see its all about how the brain is wired.  Women with a normal wired brain would be very impressed.  Along with cars - novas are NOT impressive.  However women with adnormally wired brains like shopping and the like.

My flatemates idea of a great saturday is 8 hours shopping on Oxford Street followed by an overexpensive bar, which has posh lighting, expensive and crappy mixed drinks.  The very thought of sailing almost causes them to crawl into a corner and rock back and fore.  You see they might break a nail or mess their hair.  However my idea of a great saturday is either sailing, surfing, kiteboarding, wakeboarding etc, followed by a cool pub/bar with decent music - RnB, Hip Hop etc - is not cool
