Any chance of wallpaper (1024*768) size copies of these images, some of the photographs are amazing.

yeah great photos and great conditions!!! I'd love to be out there!
those kind of conditions really test the pre-race preparation and the ability of the sailor to truly ease off the throttle and just make sure nothing breaks.

Would you really? Ever been offshore in gale-plus conditions for days at an end? Can't sleep, can't even rest, huge effort required to even make a hot drink or have a pee. In reality, it's not many people's idea of fun.

The sheer rush means it would be fun for a time, but I wouldn't fancy being in it for any large amount of time.

I have, admitedly in a crusing yacht about as far removed from those ocean racing beasts as you can get ( It had a flat screen Tv in the saloon and 4 heads). At the time I was cold, scard and your right it wasn't my idea of fun. But now a few years on when I talk to other people it sound cool, I just cant convay the feelings of being **** scard. I'm glad i had the experence but im not sure if id seek i'd do it again through choise.

Having said that when I walk though a city watching the glum looking people I do feel just a little smug.

PB if you want to try it do have fun good luck we cant all be the same or life would be dull.

ps would hate to say that the conditions I experences are has bad as in the in the photos, I was in >F9-10 for several days. The photos look stronger to me.

I've been in a few storms but yeah true none as bad as that looks and not single-handy and not in a beast of an open60, and i probably wouldn't know how scared i'd be until i'd tried it......so all the more reason to try it!!

I think the most wind I've ever sailed in was a F8 maybe 9 in the Channel and that was pretty bad. Allegedly although our instruments were not working at the time some boats got 55kts on there wind speed. There was lots of thunder and lightening. The wind picked up from about 15kts to whatever it got to in about 2 mins. We droped the kyte ran off downwind doing about 13kts with just a main up. I wouldn't say it was nice, it left me very disoriantated with all the lightening and hte hail. Once we had "control" back it was alot better but its not somthing I would want to do for a long peroiod of time. Saying that i do want ago on an open 60s and whats more annoying is my Dad got a go on Hellomoto and didn't take me!
