I'm 16 and I 'm wondoring whether anyone knows of any schemes etc. to get people like me into keelboat and sportboat racing, on things like j24s etc. I sail a falmouth working boat occasionaly as recreational sailing, but personaly I want to get into racing the modern stuff.  If there aren't any schemes I'm amazed someone hasnt come up with one and  with such a fast growing branch of the sport some one should come up with  one.

I feel the need... The need... For getting really really wet.

the RYA has a youth keelboat program i think, along with a crew database spefically for youths but to get onto this you have to attend one of their training weekends.

Why do you need a "scheme"? Get in touch with http://www.falmouthj24.com/ - http://www.falmouthj24.com/  Most keelboat owners are perennially short of crew.

i am also 16, and have recently found out about the myraid of owners/skippers who are looking for crew. fortunately for me i found a place on a boat belonging to the father of a school friend, so are surrounded by people i know. but before this i found that may of the skippers of boats needed crew for competitions such as falmouth week. this year for example i managed to find a place on an IOD racing out of Stmawes which was particually convienient for me. im sure that there will be other classes out there that have similar problems
