That's a very different style of boat to a FC8. Not so much a move "up" as "sideways" I'd say.

You don't generally see new cruiser/racers of that size being raced in the Solent so I can't comment on racing performance. People typically either buy smaller sportsboats or bigger cruiser/racers.

Yachts and Yachting magazine tested the 27.7 a while ago. If you are a subscriber you can http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/subscriber/?s=203&searchtext=27.7 - access the test by clicking here.

Or you can http://yachtsandyachting.com/shopv51/product.asp?P_ID=313&V_ID=1542&strPageHistory=search&strKeywords=27.7&numPageStartPosition=1&strSearchCriteria=any&PT_ID=all - purchase the test by clicking here .

Hope this helps.

they have a harder IRC than the (superior) Laser 28.  Nice enough design idea but proabbly hard to get going to it#s number compared to the Laser/redforx 28 which is a darn site cheaper budget for just as much fun

Thought the 27,7 had an inboard?

slower than a FC 8.

One managed to get passed us in the B25 Platou because of a broach. ( an alternative day racer if you race in mixed fleets with 4 or 5 onboard)
