So, what colour and why ?
I've had various Kites in my time - Blue one and then a Yellow and Pink ones on my Hurricanes and all the ones for the Inter 17 have been Pink.
Now For the F16 I am 99.99999% certain I'm going to have a Purple one. (the other option I have in mind is Black).
I don't want Blue, Red or Yellow as there are a fair few of those around already.
What colout Kite's have you had, and any reasons you would/would not have the same again.

Mainsail is going to be "Smoke" so not sure about Grey. I'm sure white will be too bright (sais the man who has had yello and pink kites )

Keep the kite the same colour all over, it avoids different panels stretching at different rates.
As for colour apparently blue is the best for speed, a lot of the tornados are using it. But as we all know choosing the colour is nothing about speed and all about how cool you look on the water.
My preference is an all white rig, but if that is not your cup of tea I would say a combination no one else has but still looks cool. White main/jib black kite?

Yes, Kite will be all one colour.
Re The T's all being Blue - exactly why I don't want a blue kite !!!!!!
Don't you find a White kite does your eyes in after a while ?

The reason I chose white is that not many people used a completely white rig at the time. The light doesn't bother me too much but I have been used to white sails in the past. The glare seems no worse than off my white main or jib (I think you have a white main on the 17 but I may be wrong).
I do like the white, but at the worlds in Hyeres recently I used my blue kite so I can't really comment about the glare factor.
If used solely in the UK is there ever enough sun to worry about?
Glare wouldn't be my worry if I were you, I would either be after my favourite colour or the one that looks the best against the rest of the rig. If you think white is good then just go for it, otherwise go for the better colour.
With smokey sails I would say either black, white or red. I have not seen purple against smokey yet so I don't want to comment but I don't think yellow will go at all.

What ever you choose don't tell the wife what colour it is!!!!!! Then you can always buy a new one without her knowing. I'm talking from expeirence and you don't want to go there unless you want 48hrs of the quite treatment.

LOL at Worthy
As for girly colours. The 17 has Pink kites and that is a brute of a boat at times.
I'm almost going to go with Purple, just because there are not that many around.
As for the fact that no-one in the current F16 fleet has one this is an added bonus.

I find that darkish-blue kites are good as the don't tend to kill your eyes when it's sunny......even when it's cloudy they don't have a glare to hurt your eyes....and they look good aswell.....great for putting sponsor prints on

I've currently ordered Purple, but I have time to change my mind.
I dont think I want white as it will get dirty with the Grafham clay when rigging.
Grey is possible, but surely a bit boring; Black may be cool, but it's already been done.
Could just go back to Pink again, but they do fade a little....

Red White and Blue is currently the best becaues that's what the boat had when I bought it! As for the next one it will be whatever is the best condition for the lowest price. Aaah the joys of sailing tornados with a ready supply of second hand kit.
Adam Piggot's green is not goood on a sunday morning though, way too bright through a hang over

I'd take that as permission granted
On purple kites, seen quite a few on the training Omegas kicking about down here and reckon that there are quite a few purple kites in some RS classes from what I've heard also........

The most popular colour in the RS200 fleet this year has been purple...we had one at the beginning of the year but changed to red for the Nationals..... we also had a white one for a spare but I found it a bit too bright even when it was cloudy!

What's the sword swallower thing ?
As for being behind you, we'll see All that has to happen is that the boat is built in time - currently not certain in anyway ! mast and foils are built, beams are next and then the hulls (another boat in currently in the moulds). Get sails ordered and built, fit it out, look at it and then change aeverything around....
Currently I'd say 60:40 against it being ready in just over a months time...
