Thanks guys,

Helps on a hot friday when stuck in the office, at least I can see others enjoying themselves

I was interested to see if many clubs now have web cams and what kind of pictures you get, quality wise.

The WYC & IOSSC webcams are great - saves me going down the club when condistions are poor and temps me to knock off early for a sail when it's great.

Shame that it mostly turns out to be the former ...

Not my club but a fantastic weather page, and if you click on the webcam picture takes you to a live webcam.

Close enough to Bough Beech to give me a good idea of what the weather is like.

Really useful weather station and webcam which means you can verify visually that the anenometer is acurate for the direction shown. Also the club is fairly isolated and often has different weather to anywhere else.

Perhaps not the best view of the club grounds and water though - you can only see about a 5th of the boat park and 2/3rds of the water.

Just been looking at the Bewl site.  Looks like a lovely day for a sail.  Quite a few people there this afternoon by the look of it.

Every club should have one.  But ours got stuck on a rainy day in July and often shows a spiders web (it's a webcam in fact) .. ho ho:

This has given me an idea... which lead to an early bit of morning programming.

If you now go to the http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/weather/ - Weather Page you'll see Club webcams under 'Local UK & Ireland Resources'.

You can now add a club's webcam URL information using the Add or Modify Club form on the http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/clubs/ - Clubs page . I will now add this to the search results on the club pages.

Keep the ideas coming!

Yeah it was windy that day.

The system crashed and couldn't reboot apparently because our phone line is a bit iffy (we're quire remote). It's not always quite that windy and it's not always foggy either. What makes me giggle is the captions underneath 125.7mph 'no sailing, windsurfing only!'

Well done Mark, good move.  Everybody likes a bit of a "peek" and it's a good info-mercial for clubs in general.

Oxford SC (farmoor) which im sure headfry is aware off but doesnt seem to have been mentioned yet:

http://www.oxfordsailingclub.com/~osc-web/webcam.shtml
Theres a link to a live feed from that page which changes (so you cant link directly to the live version) and weather feeds elsewhere on the site.

Hmm. gonna have to get our webcam fixed now. Until then everybody will think it's always raining, foggy and a force 10 on the North York Moors......

Isis "Hi" yes Oxford Sailing Club has a web cam and it can be seen as 'real time' which is great, only sad thing is that alot of the time it 'sticks'  and the wind details are even worse.   Such a shame as most live a distance from the club and it helps to know what the wind is doing before commiting to a journy to the pond! That said, when they both work its very very useful  and it helps when stuck at work and in need of a small sailing fix, at least I can see the water! and others out there,  not sure if that gets a  or a  or even  !!

note to self: rattle a few peps at club to sort iit OUT!!      (I will try)
